What does your organisation do?

Vaccination is optimised for the average patient but everyone responds differently. With the power of AI and causal machine learning models we can tailor vaccination schedules and doses to improve vaccine effectiveness and protect those who need it the most.

Why did you choose to build in Oxfordshire?

Both Nick and Carlos, co-founders of Enthalpy Bio (formerly SMRTmeds), were united during their Master studies at Herford College. Oxford is a vibrant city with plenty of entrepreneurs that inspired and helped us test and validate our ideas. This is essentially why we believe that there is no better place than Oxford to build our AI HealthTech infrastructure.

What big problem are you trying to solve?

Vaccination remains one-size-fits-all: while some are underprotected, others may be overprotected. This causes major hospitalisation costs estimated at £6.6Bn annually for the NHS and, most importantly, the admission of hundreds of patients to clinics whose vaccine was not protective enough. Today, with access to big data and the application of novel AI algorithms, we have been able to dissect who and how each individual will respond to a vaccine to ensure population-wide protection and large healthcare savings.

How can you support the Oxfordshire ecosystem?

We are seeking funding to scale our idea and conduct pilots with Oxfordshire hospitals. Beyond, we are looking for mentors whose expertise could add value to our solution and help us reach our mission. Additionally, we want to train and learn from fellow students, researchers, and clinicians to ensure our solution gets implemented in a safely and ethical manner.
